Task 4 "L'Aquila Fault System" Data Archive

The Task 4 main objective is the creation of a SEED (Standard for the Exchange of Earthquake Data; IRIS) integrated archive containing all continuos waveform data recorded during the April 6, 2009 L'Aquila seismic sequence (WP 4.2).

This archive will allow for easy access to the whole data set among the partner of the project.

The seismic sequence

A few hours after the mainshock (April 6,2009 01:32 UTC, ML=5.8, Mw=6.3) the first 8 stations of the INGV Mobile Seismic Network have been deployed in the epicentral area (Figure 1). In the next couple of days additional 14 stations have been installed. The LGIT Institute from Grenoble has installed additional 20 stations. The french network data are available at http://www.fosfore.ipgp.fr/en/.

At the same time also the satellite telemetered real time temporary network has been installed in the epicentral area (WP 4.1).

During the seismic sequence the network geometry has been changed following the the seismicity pattern and extended also to nearby areas, like Monti Reatini, when seismity rates have raised. .

The continuous waveform data recorded during the "Aquila 2009" emergency are available at EIDA (European Integrated Data Archive) based on ArcLink (developed by Geofon, GFZ). The site allows complete access to both permanent and temporary station data.

To download the waveform data just click Data Request and select the stations in the area 41.9-42.7/12.9-14.1 for the time range April 6, 2009 - March 3, 2010.
